Services Set For Lodi High School Senior Killed In Clifton Crash

Services have been finalized for a Lodi High School senior who was killed in a Clifton crash, one month before her 18th birthday.

A GoFundMe campaign, launched by Veronica Delgado to support Ezra Sanchez’s family had raised $19,900 as of Friday, March 7.

Sanchez was a loving, outgoing 17-year-old who attended Lodi High School and was weeks away from turning 18 on April 3, according to Delgado.

"This is shocking and tragic," Delgado wrote. "We are setting up this GoFundMe to help relieve the burden of costs for this family. Any and all donations are appreciated."

While they did not identify her by name, Lodi Superintendent Frank D’Amico and Principal Michael Attanasio expressed their sympathy to Ezra's family and close friends early this week, noting that counseling services would be available to students.

An obituary published to the Vander Plaat Memorial Home website described Ezra as a "radiant young lady" whose "impact in her 17 years was profound."

"Her infectious spirit, joyful laughter, and boundless kindness lit up every room," her obituary reads.

Ezra, who was not identified by authorities due to the fact she was a juvenile, was a passenger in the 2008 Honda Accord carrying four occupants, which collided with a Mazda CX-9 carrying on person around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, March 2, at the intersection of Lakeview Avenue and Crooks Avenue, officials said. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Her faith was a cornerstone of her life, inspiring those around her to embrace love, kindness, and gratitude... As we celebrate Ezra's beautiful life, let us remember her as a shining example of grace and kindness. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit will forever inspire us to cherish each moment and spread love.

"Rest in peace, dear Ezra. You will be deeply missed."

A visitation for Sanchez will be held on Saturday, March 8, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 113 S. Farview Ave., Paramus. A funeral service will begin at 6 p.m. at the funeral home, with private cremation to follow.
